Kids Fishing day at Castaic Lake
Lets go fishin! Castaic Lake is hosting a day of fishing for kids on Saturday, May 3rd,
from 7:30 am -1 pm at the Lower Lagoon - Paradise Cove. Park entrance fees are $5 per
vehicle but the fishing (for kids) is free. They even have poles available for use on a first
come first serve basis. There will be crafts and prizes and entertainment. Bring a picnic
and enjoy the day! For more information, call Castaic Lake at 257-5034
JPL Open House:
We have an outing planned for Sunday, May 4th, to take our den to the annual JPL Open
House. If you haven't had the opportunity to see take part in this event before, make sure
you don't miss this outing (click the link above for more background info). Please contact
Stephanie to RSVP and to get further information. If you can not attend with the den, the
Open House runs all weekend, Saturday and Sunday, May 3rd and 4th, from 9-5.
Den meeting:
Our meeting will be May 18th, from 1-2 pm, at Stephanie's house.
Memorial Day Flag Placement:
Saturday, May 24th, starting at 9 am. Scouts are invited to take part in the flag placement
to honor our fallen veterans. This event will take place at the Eternal Valley Morturary, just
off of Sierra Highway, west of San Fernando Road. Let your den leaders know if you are
interested in taking part in this event.
Pack Meeting:
May 27th, 7-8 PM. Mountainview Elementary MPR. Arrrgh, Matey! Bring your best pirate
snarl and attach your peg-leg! Its time for our Pirate Pack Meeting! This will also be our
recruitment meeting, so if you have any friends interested in joining scouts, feel free to
invite them along! Parents: Dues of $50 per scout are due at the meeting!

June:
Advancement!
We will be having an overnight celebration at Hart Park, starting on Saturday, June 7th and
lasting until the morning of Sunday, June 8th. There will be a potluck dinner, crafts, hikes,
Buffalo, campfire stories (if fires are allowed), s'mores, and lots of fun. We will also have
a ceremony helping our boys start their work on their new ranks. More details to follow
and your den leader will have more information, so stay tuned!
Pack Hike
Laurie will be leading an early morning hike down the canyon near Placerita up to Walker
Ranch and back. Meet at 7:30 (to beat the heat) at the Placerita Nature Center. Bring lots
of water and sunscreen. About a 4 mile hike, 2-3 hours. Come join us and add miles to
your hiking staff!
